Bubbles

We live in a confusing time of rapid changes and conflicting information. It’s tempting to hunker down and rely on the practices you are used to and to listen to the people in your bubble. Social Media intensifies the echo chamber effect by tracking what grabs your attention and sending you more of the same. It’s easy to get set in your ways, but radically changing times call for rapid adaptability. One way to get out of your bubble is to focus on principles instead of on practices. Open your mind to new practices that will better support your core principles.

When Jarrod started the RLF garden, he had the core principle of Regenerative Farming with its focus on the soil and no ‘-icides.’ He started with raised beds, but has shifted to deep compost as a better way to uphold the principles. The Regenerative practices we use are constantly evolving as we learn more from study and from talking to other regenerative farmers, but the principle remains the same!

There’s a lot of conflicting information about what to eat too - keto, low-carb, vegan? Each promises to fulfill your goal of lower weight or greater health. Instead of getting lost in the practices, what if you find foods that meet the core principle of whole foods - fewer than 5 ingredients and all ingredients that you recognize as foods.

It’s important to be adaptable in our rapidly-changing, increasingly-threatening world. What has always worked for us may not work tomorrow. It can be uncomfortable to change the way you think or do things, but it’s easier to do today than after things fall apart. Consider expanding your bubble. It’s empowering to stand on the firm ground of your principles and open yourself to new practices that help you navigate the changing world.
