Oakwood Apothecary

Oakwood Apothecary is one of the hidden gems of our community and you might be surprised by what this local pharmacy has to offer. Cindi Reed and her father (Reed Funeral Home) joke that they are in very different lines of work, but their hometown businesses have a lot in common. Both have deep community ties, they know us and our families personally and we trust them to help us when we are sick or grieving.
Cindi was inspired to become a pharmacist by her childhood challenges with drug-resistant epilepsy. She and her mother went on a journey through different doctors, multiple prescriptions at adult dosages, and terrifying seizures along the way. From this experience, she became committed to the belief that drugs are not one size fits all. There’s a huge disconnect between the hospital that prescribes the medicine and the pharmacist who fills the prescription 6 months later, without access to your medical history.
Cindi founded a hometown pharmacy that is focused on wellness. Who ever heard of buying farm fresh eggs and produce along with your prescription?! She understands that whole foods support healing and wellness. She works with families as individuals to suggest (for example) that fish oil might be a safer, more effective and less expensive alternative to a prescription stimulant for treating childhood ADHD.
In the old days, most things communities needed to stay healthy came from within the community. Having a hometown pharmacy means we can access the resources of huge pharmaceutical companies in a small town, local way. Cindi and the women who work at Oakwood are passionate advocates for the wellness of their friends and neighbors who come through the door of the friendly shop. Consider switching your prescriptions to Oakwood Apothecary - you can pick up some eggs while you’re there!
