Stovetop Stew Hen

Ingredients

  • 1 Frozen Whole Stew Hen

  • Vegetables for flavor like:

    • Whole garlic cloves

    • Powdered Garlic

    • Celery

    • Onions cut into quarters

    • Chopped carrots

  • Spices for flavor like

    • Parsley

    • Salt

    • Pepper

    • Peppercorns

  • 4 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  • Thaw Stew Hen in Refrigerator overnight

  • Place stew hen and vegetables of choice in a pot and cover with water. 

  • Add all spices, herbs, and apple cider vinegar. 

  • Cook on low heat and slowly bring to a simmer. 

  • Simmer for 2 hours.

  • Turn Chicken so that a different side is on top. 

  • Simmer for another 2 hours.

  • Remove chicken carcass and place in a bowl to cool. 

  • Save the broth and vegetables for other recipes, or just enjoy as is.

  • Remove meat from the bone to make 

    • Stews - you can use the vegetables and broth for this

    • Soups - you can use the vegetables and broth for this

    • Tacos or other Mexican recipes

    • Chicken Salad 

    • Casseroles

    • Anything that uses Chicken!
